I work at this wonderful Cafe and Bakery called Kneaders as a sandwich maker, and I see God using my work to serve other people, and not just to receive my biweekly paycheck. I have formed a bit of nostalgia whenever I'm at Subway. It sounds weird I'm sure. I remember back when I was 8 years old, and my mom (who is a nanny) would take me, and her charge at the time, to Subway. It would usually be after tee-ball practices (believe it or not I was athletic) and we would order our favorite subs. Why is this relevant? Well, it wasn't so much the food that I remember fondly as it is the memories surrounding it. Plus, it was something special. A treat, after a hard workout and a job well done. It was a treat. Whenever I make a kid's PB&J, or grilled cheese sandwich, I hope they look back at their time at Kneaders and think, "Wow, that was such a fun time in my life." Besides that, I am also thinking of how much food might help people unwind. After a stressful day at work, or a long day where that time of meeting up with your significant other couldn't come fast enough, it's nice to treat yourself to a yummy pastry.
There are times when it is easy to make sandwiches and then release them off into the void where they shall never return. To tell you the truth, it makes my job so much more enjoyable,] when I make food specially for someone. That I might be helping some stranger find their own adventure in simplicity. Just a sliver of happiness to take their minds off of whatever problems they are facing in the real world.
Anyway, it makes the job easier when you know why you are serving. It's sort of a form of love.
Dude, you should write in this more!
